SCPS is a protocol suite developed to facilitate communication in challenging environments. It was created in 1992 by NASA and the US Air Force to provide a specialized set of data transfer protocols tailored for satellite communication. SCPS is based on existing Internet protocols and is fully compatible with IETF standards. Features include optimal utilization of limited bandwidth, high link utilization, and power conservation.
